Therapeutic Massage

Therapeutic massage combines a variety of modalities that will enhance the body’s natural restorative energy. Light to firm touch is used to release tension, relax muscles, increase blood and lymph circulation, and aids in calming  the mind.  Therapeutic massage can be used in conjunction with traditional medical treatment of illness and injury, alleviating pain and stress, aiding soft tissue healing, and revitalizing the body. Also, regular massage can promote health by providing relaxation, release of muscle tightness, relief from anxiety and tensions, and balancing aspects of body, mind, and spirit.

Amanda will customize your massage session

by combining various massage techniques, tools, and products.

She creates a truly therapeutic massage experience.

Therapeutic Massage Techniques & Tools

  • Swedish: The “original western massage” long, gliding strokes on oiled extremities and spirited muscle kneading. This technique aids in blood and lymph circulation, and promotes overall relaxation.
  • Trigger Point: Deep finger pressure is applied to the knots in the muscles also know as trigger points. This highly intense treatment will aid in muscle relaxation and will decrease referred pain.
  • Orthopedic Massage:  therapeutic assessment, manipulation and movement of soft tissue to reduce pain and dysfunction. Helps to restore structural balance throughout the body.
  • Ice:  Used on muscles with deep pain and decreases inflammation. This is a refreshing and invigorating way to get relief.
  • Hot towels/ hot packs: Used during a massage to soothe muscle aches by relaxing the tired, overworked, muscles.
  • Aromatherapy: Concentrated plant oils, also known as essential oils, are used to calm and rejuvenate the emotional state of mind.
  • Foot Reflexology: precise finger pressure is applied to “reflex areas” on the feet, which correspond to the glands and organs in the body.
  • Reiki: Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
  • Pre-natal:   Massage during prenatal care is a healthy and smart choice for addressing the discomforts experienced during pregnancy, such as backaches, stiff neck, leg cramps, headaches and swelling.
